Vitae Blurb:I
am an
applied micro theorist interested in
signaling and selection (adverse or advantageous) in competitive
markets. Applications are mostly geared towards the
financial
services sector
including insurance, banking, credit, bankruptcy and credit
ratings. Before coming to Vassar, I taught at the University of
Texas at Austin and Oberlin College in Ohio. My research provides
both the support as well as the incentive to teach a wide variety of
courses. My teaching interests include Microeconomics (at all
levels),
Game Theory, Industrial Organization, Law & Economics, Microeconomics
of Banking (at the level of Freixas and Rochet's fantastic text), and Corporate Finance. At UT I worked under the supervision of Ken Hendricks and Tom Wiseman.
Incidentally, it was Tom's graduate microeconomics class which
convinced me to quit the PhD program in operations research and switch
to economics!
Teaching
Vassar students
can access course information and documents through Moodle. Office
hours for Fall 2009 are 2-4p
on Tuesdays & Thursdays and 10a-12 noon on Wednesdays.
Please send an email to schedule appointments outside of office hours.
The intern for Econ 101 is Kartik Naram. His office hours are
6-7:30p on Tuesdays and 3:30-5p on Wednesdays both in the economics
department lounge BH130.
Since the
completion of my PhD last year, I have spent most of my time trying to get my dissertation published. This implies that the 'finished' papers are under various stages
of revisions. When I (re)submit the revised papers, I will upload
the 'then current versions' here. If
you are interested in any of these topics, shoot me an email. I will
send you whatever I have (papers, notes, bibliographies, links etc).

so don't bother (to write) on facebook. Happy reading folks!
