Exercise 1.13 (a), page 61 Bettina Klaus bklaus bklaus1@unl.edu Since the lexicographic preferences as defined in the problem are not reflexive, the assignment in (a) is not clear to me(indifference sets are empty by definition). I let the students sketch an upper contour set, which will help them to see that preferences are not continuous. Because of the irreflexivity, it may help to denote lexicographic preferences by a strict preference relation sign.
